Tiny house in the Mecklenburg Lake District
More than a thousand lakes, the Müritz the largest, a national park, and along the shores marinas, harbour resorts and campsites that live from water tourism. The lake district is space and quiet — and a region where almost every interesting site lies on the water, with everything that means under planning law.
In the lake district what is permitted on the shore is settled first — shore protection, national park, protected landscape, harbour use — then planning is for overnight units with seasonal operation and connection to the harbour or site infrastructure. The town pages lie in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern and Brandenburg; the two state pages name the official source.
Shore: protection, harbour, permissibility
Lakeshores in the lake district often lie in shore-protection zones, in Müritz National Park or in protected landscapes; harbour areas are special-use zones with their own permit. Whether an overnight unit may stand there, for how long and in what number, is for the operator to settle with the authority and the owner of the land. The operator page for marinas describes what has to be clarified.
Water tourism: marinas and harbour resorts
The lake district lives from the water: houseboats, charter fleets, marinas with overnight guests who do not want to sleep aboard in the evening. A unit at the harbour is an overnight unit for that — with connection to the harbour infrastructure, with facade and fittings for damp, with delivery outside the season when the jetties are empty.
Open country: access is rarely the problem
Unlike in the uplands, access in the lake district is rarely the hurdle — the sites are open, the tracks level. The hurdle is permissibility on the shore. Whoever has settled it has a project; whoever has not has a model without a pitch.
What applies under planning law is on the state page, with the official source:
